Added 25/October, 2011
The group has now been active for just over two years ago, and has already made a huge difference to the local animal population. Our primary goal remains to neuter the local animal population to reduce the amount of street animals. To this end, since the beginning of this year we have neutered 97 animals and successfully rehomed 65 puppies. The group has also managed to treat a many sick animals suffering from mange, broken limbs, and all sorts of other medical problems.
We have also managed to successfully aid the rehoming of 9 dogs to new homes in The Netherlands. Now that the UK quarantine laws have eased - we look forward to helping rehome animals back to the UK in 2012.
Unfortunately no financial help has been received from Yalıkavak Belediyesi this year, so we must finance our activities ourselves through selling 2nd hand books at the weekly Yalıkavak market and selling 2nd hand clothes, shoes etc… at the Bitez 2nd hand market.
We would like to thank all of you who supported us through the past year as without your help we could never have managed to help so many animals.
We are desperately looking for more volunteers so please come and visit us at the Yalıkavak market on Thursday, where you can find us at our “Animal Caravan”, where we are always working hard to create awareness, collect donations, sell 2nd hand books, and rehome puppies.
October Book-Sale
On the 22nd October, the YAWG held it's first grand booksale, with hundreds of books in German, Dutch, French, English and Turkish. Tasty home made specialities were also offered.
The sale was a huge success and we are very happy to inform you that a total of 1340 TL was collected. With this amount of money we are now able to continue our Capture, Neuter, and Release (CNR) program. A BIG thanks to all of you who came to this book sale and supported our good works.
